DESCRIPTION
The figure is elegantly cast standing in tribhanga on a lotus pedestal, with the right hand lowered in varadamudra (the gesture of charity) and the left hand raised in vitarkamudra (the gesture of discussion). The deity is flanked by stylized lotus blossoms rising from the base to the shoulders. She is adorned with an elaborate five-pointed foliate crown, heavy earrings, and intricate beaded jewelry across the chest and waist. Her dhoti is finely incised with floral patterns, draping softly over her slender legs. The face is cast with a serene expression, characterized by downcast eyes and a gentle smile, all beneath a high ushnisha topped with a flaming jewel. The gilding is well-preserved, exhibiting a warm, lustrous tone.
此尊度母像铜铸鎏金,呈三屈式优雅伫立于莲座之上。右手下垂施与愿印,左手当胸施说法印,双肩侧各牵出一支优美的莲花。度母头戴精美的五叶宝冠,耳饰大珰,胸前及腰间满饰璎珞佩饰。下身着长裙,裙褶錾刻细腻的精美花纹,紧贴体廓,线条流畅。面相圆润,神态宁静,眼帘微垂,尽显慈悲。通体鎏金厚实,色泽灿烂悦目。
CATALOGUE NOTE
Tara, the “Mother of Liberation,” is one of the most beloved deities in Tibetan Buddhism, representing compassionate action and protection. This standing representation is less common than the seated form and highlights the influence of Nepalese artistic traditions on Tibeto-Chinese Buddhist bronzes during the mid-to-late Qing Dynasty. The slender proportions, the rhythmic swaying of the hips, and the meticulous attention to the jewelry reflect the high craftsmanship of the period. Such figures were often commissioned for private altars or as meritorious gifts to temples, serving as both spiritual icons and masterpieces of metalwork.
度母被称为“救度佛母”,是藏传佛教中最为重要的女神之一,象征着慈悲与守护。相比常见的坐姿像,立姿度母像较为少见,体现了尼泊尔艺术风格对清代中晚期汉藏佛教造像的影响。造像比例匀称,体态生动,璎珞装饰繁缛精细,反映了该时期高超的铸造与鎏金工艺。此类精美造像通常供奉于私人佛堂或作为礼佛圣物,兼具极高的宗教价值与艺术审美。

• Condition: In overall good condition. Some expected wear and minor losses to the gilding, particularly on the prominent areas consistent with age and ritual handling. Minor casting flaws and surface oxidation to the underside of the base.
• 整体品相良好。 鎏金层见自然磨损及轻微脱落,符合其年代特征及礼拜痕迹。底座内侧见少量铸造瑕疵及自然氧化。
