Description
This elegant table screen is carved from a substantial rectangular slab of translucent white jade with areas of natural russet skin, characteristic of pebbles sourced from the Hotan region. The front is masterfully carved in varying levels of relief with a tranquil “Scholar in a Landscape” scene. It depicts a sage and his attendant on a riverbank, set against a backdrop of jagged rockwork, a pavilion perched over swirling waves, and a gnarled pine tree extending its canopy across the center.
The upper portion of the screen features an incised poetic inscription in clerical script (lishu), followed by two seal marks. The poem reflects on the serenity of nature and the scholarly retreat, typical of the literati aesthetic of the High Qing period. The reverse is more subtly carved with a continuous landscape, utilizing the natural russet inclusions to represent distant mountain peaks. The jade is of a desirable “mutton-fat” quality with a soft, moist luster. It is accompanied by a contemporary custom-carved dark wood stand featuring intricate scrolling clouds and geometric patterns.

CONDITION REPORT
The jade screen is in excellent condition. The stone exhibits a fine, even polish with no visible cracks or significant chips. The natural russet skin is well-integrated into the carving. The wooden stand is intact with minor surface wear consistent with age.

此件插屏由一整块硕大的白玉籽料雕琢而成，玉质温润细腻，局部带有天然红褐色玉皮，尽显清代盛世对上等和田玉料的推崇。屏面采用浮雕技法绘就一幅意境深远的“高士访友图”：画面中老者与童子伫立岸边，远山层叠，飞檐亭阁临水而建，一株苍劲的古松横跨屏间，针叶细密，意境高雅。
屏风上部以隶书工整镌刻诗文，后落两方印章，诗意与画境相得益彰，体现了典型的文人审美情趣。屏背利用天然皮色点缀，寥寥数笔勾勒出山色空蒙之感。玉质呈“羊脂白”色泽，莹润如酥。配有精雕硬木底座，座身刻有如意云头纹及夔龙纹，雕工精美。
