Description
This archaic jade tubular bead, or lezi, is carved in the tradition of the Neolithic Liangzhu culture. The piece features a characteristic rectangular cross-section with rounded corners and a central longitudinal perforation for suspension. The surface is subtly divided into registers by fine horizontal incised lines, hinting at the tiered mask motifs frequently found on ritual jades of this period.
The nephrite material has undergone significant natural transformation, resulting in a heavily calcified, opaque surface with a variegated palette of cream, buff, and warm ochre tones. The stone displays deep russet “mercury” stains and characteristic surface weathering consistent with long-term burial. The bead is currently strung on a contemporary cord accented with deep red glass or stone beads, highlighting its presence as a venerable scholar’s object or personal talisman.

CONDITION REPORT
The jade lezi is in overall excellent and stable condition. The stone exhibits an authentic archaic patina with extensive surface mineralization and natural calcification. The incised details are softened by age but remain discernible. There are no signs of modern cracks, chips, or professional restoration. Natural internal stone fissures and surface pitting are present, consistent with the material’s burial history and antiquity.

此件玉勒子呈现出鲜明的新石器时代良渚文化风格。整器呈长方柱体，棱角圆润，中心对钻孔以便穿系。器身表面通过细腻的横向阴刻线分为若干节块，隐约透出该时期祭祀玉器上常见的叠层纹饰意向。
玉材经长期埋藏已发生显著的自然钙化，质地不透明，表面呈现出奶油色、浅褐色与赭色交织的古朴色调。玉石受沁深重，可见自然的红褐色沁色及随岁月形成的矿物风化层。勒子现配以深红色饰珠串绳，既突显了高古玉器的厚重感，亦使其作为文房把件或个人佩饰更具灵动气息。
