Description
This elegantly carved white jade scabbard slide, known as a wei or zhi, is a classic accessory for a high-ranking gentleman’s sword from the Han Dynasty. The slide features a rectangular top plate that curves downward at one end, forming a functional hook for attachment to a belt. The upper surface is meticulously decorated in low relief with a stylized animal mask (taotie) and fluid, interweaving “cloud” or “grain” patterns, characteristic of the refined lapidary styles of the period.
The jade is of exceptional quality, possessing a translucent, creamy white tone. Centuries of burial have suffused the stone with rich, variegated russet and amber mineralization, creating a beautiful mottled appearance that enhances its archaic charm. The underside features a well-defined rectangular aperture through which a leather belt would have passed. The piece is highly polished, exhibiting a warm, waxy luster typical of ancient jades.

此件汉代白玉剑璏（又称剑鼻）是当时高等级剑饰的典型代表。璏体呈长方拱形，一端向下卷曲成钩，便于固定在腰带上。璏面以浅浮雕技法精绘兽面纹及流动的云纹，纹饰婉转流畅，展现了汉代玉器雕工的雄浑与精细。
玉质底色为青白玉，历经千年的地下埋藏，表面已自然沁入深浅不一的褐红色与琥珀色矿物质，形成了古朴迷人的沁色。璏底部设有矩形贯孔，供革带穿过。整器打磨极精，表面带有温润的油脂光泽。
