Description
This rare pair of famille rose candlesticks is distinguished by its sophisticated three-tiered square stupa-form structure. Each candlestick is meticulously potted with a flared square base, a central stepped mid-section, and a broad square drip pan topped with a cylindrical nozzle. The architectural silhouette draws inspiration from sacred Buddhist stupas, reflecting the formal ritual aesthetics of the Jiaqing court.
The vessels are applied with a vibrant imperial yellow ground, symbolizing high status and dignity. This brilliant backdrop is intricately painted with scrolling lotus vines and various floral motifs in a rich famille rose palette. Each tier is further defined by refined border patterns, including ruyi-heads and geometric key-fret bands, which accentuate the crisp angles of the square form.
