DESCRIPTION
Carved from a dense celadon jade of a deep, variegated tone, this large bi-disc is centered with a circular aperture. The stone is characterized by localized golden-yellow russet inclusions and areas of chalky white calcification, creating a textured, mottled appearance typical of ancient mineral evolution. Both sides are elaborately carved with a continuous ‘cloud and thunder’ (yunlei) scroll, the lines executed with a vigorous and archaic touch. The surface displays a smooth, natural patina developed through age, imbuing the piece with a profound sense of antiquity and rhythmic vitality. It is a sophisticated example of ancient ritual form, serving as both a scholarly object and a significant interior display piece.
